HEALTH
Collie Health Foundation is the single greatest resource of all Collie breeders. I highly recommend browsing through the information on that site for a base level understanding of the relevant health issues facing the Collie breed, and what is being done about it.

We are dedicated to trying to improve the health of the breed. While robust and with an appropriate life span for the size of the dog, the Collie still has aspects of health we can improve on.

We test all of our breeding dogs for CEA, MDR1, DM, DMS, PRA, and CN. Due to the prevalence of these genetics in the breed, it is often not possible to avoid breeding dogs together that are carriers for or affected by some of these conditions, particularly CEA and MDR1. These two diseases are manageable, but it is our goal to try and breed away from these conditions, although it can be a slow and frustrating process.
We also complete OFA Hip and Elbow screening. All of our non-merle dogs will also be tested for the M Locus, to ensure we do not accidentally breed genetic merles together.

Prior to leaving to their new homes, all puppies will have a CERF eye exam completed, regardless of their genetic CEA status.
